The common materials of paint brushes mainly include two parts: brush material and brush handle material.
Bristle material
The bristles are the core part of the paint brush, which directly affects the brushing effect and durability. Common bristle materials are divided into natural bristles and chemical fibers:
Natural bristles:
Bristle: is the most common natural bristle material, with good adsorption and elasticity, can evenly spit out paint, so that the paint surface thickness is consistent, and not easy to leave bristles on the brushing surface. It is especially suitable for paints and glues with higher concentrations, as well as coating jobs requiring strong adhesion.
Wool: The wool brush is soft, smooth, and smooth, and it can also spit out the paint evenly, so that the paint surface is smooth, the thickness is consistent, and it is not easy to leave brush lines. The construction feels smooth, but the disadvantage is that it is easy to lose hair, and it needs to pay attention to maintenance during use.
Plant fiber: such as sisal, although not as common as bristle and wool, but in some specific scenarios also have applications.
Chemical fiber:
There are many kinds of chemical fiber materials, such as PP, PET, PBT, nylon and so on. These materials can be processed into hollow wire, sharpened wire, four-leaf wire, small fine hollow sharpened wire, plum blossom three-hole wire, high imitation bristle and other different types of bristles. Chemical fiber bristles have the advantages of low cost and good durability, but the adsorption and brushing effect may be different from natural bristles.
Brush handle material
The brush handle is the supporting part of the paint brush, which affects the comfort and durability of use. Common brush handle materials are plastic handle and wood handle two kinds:
Plastic handle: Plastic handle is usually a one-time injection molding, with light weight, corrosion resistance, easy to clean and other advantages. But in some cases it may not feel as comfortable as a wooden handle.
Wooden handles: Wooden handles are divided into log natural wood handles and oiled wood handles. The natural wood handle retains the natural texture of wood and feels comfortable; The oiled wood handles are specially treated for better durability and water resistance. Wooden handle paint brushes are more common in traditional crafts and high-end markets.
